The Dancing With The Teachers Team has done a great amount of soul searching about the future of DWTT. We have made a final decision about Dancing With The Teachers, and we will be taking a break for the 2015-2016 school year. This decision has been very difficult. However, we believe that taking time off from DWTT will allow us to refocus/revamp/re-energize our vision.
DWTT and our partnership with NY DanceSport of New City has been such a blessing to the lives of everyone involved over the past five years. The tremendous show of support for the event and for Stand Up To Cancer is truly humbling. The event has made the transformation from a one night, simple show run by a few teachers and 20 students, to a year round, multi-event, whole community fundraising effort. It is amazing to think about how our entire school community has been part of creating a positive change in the world and has raised and donated nearly $160,000 to fund cancer research.
As we said above, this decision has been incredibly hard, but we firmly believe it is the right decision for our team. Helping our community continue to raise funds for SU2C is still incredibly important; we hope seeds have been planted and branches will spread, so that organizations and clubs plan other events and fundraisers for Stand Up to Cancer. For example, Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point is running a “Swing For A Cure” golf tournament on Columbus Day, October 12th. Shear Magique Hair Salon in Pomona will be having their 2nd Annual Blowout Fundraiser on Sunday, October 18th, and NY DanceSport will be hosting their Fall dance showcase on Sunday, November 22nd from 5-10 at Old Tappan Manor. Additionally, third grade students from Stony Point Elementary school run multiple fundraisers each year. All of these events will benefit Stand Up To Cancer. Please go out and support them all!
In closing, we are very passionate about the work we do, and know you are just as passionate about DWTT. We can never begin to thank you, our community, for the incredible support your have given to our program over the past five years. We are forever grateful to you.
