MEET IGOR

Meet Igor, one of our dance instructors, and choreographer. This amazing man, along with the entire team at NY DanceSport has supported our journey for 4 years and counting. He has the most amazing talent and always keeps us pushing ourselves, while laughing every step of the way. We are blessed to have him as our teacher! (Oh yea, and that’s Jen next to Igor:)

It is with heavy hearts that we share that one of our beloved team members has passed. Judy Stroup was a staunch supporter of our Dancing with the Teachers events and volunteered endlessly with her time and talents. She did everything for the cause and was a friend to every person she met. Our team is beyond saddened by this news. We extend our deepest condolences to her family and to everyone whose life she touched. We could never thank Judy enough for all she did to support Dancing with The Teachers and the @su2c movement. Heaven has gained a true angel. You will be missed more than you could ever imagine...

On May 20th 2018, DWTT organized our annual flashmob alongside our amazing choreographers from NY DanceSport. It is always such a wonderful experience, and this year was no exception. With many new faces and many returning flashmob members, we danced to “Happy”by Pharrell, and it was a really amazing routine. The fast paced energy of the song, made the onlookers erupt with cheers and applause. Combining the donations we collected from the onlookers who “made it rain” money from all four floors above, shirt sales, and dancer participation fees, we are so proud to say that we are able to donate $2,000 to Stand Up To Cancer @su2c this year. In our bio you will find a video link to the 2018 SU2C FlashMob edited by videographer Paul Meister with additional videography by Chris Lima who both donated their services! We also want to thank our amazing DJ, Action Entertainment, located in Nyack, who also donated his services! Thanks so much to everyone who participated and donated! We can’t wait until next year!!!! What a wonderful day! Another successful and amazing flashmob today. Together, we raised nearly $2000 for Stand Up To Cancer and had a blast performing “Happy” choreographed by @nydancesport! A huge thank you goes out to all dancers, speakers, and to anyone who donated to the cause. It was raining 💵 inside the Palisades Mall today for @su2c SU2C! A huge shout out to Dan Harrington of @su2c for the donation of graphic design services for the awesome shirt design, Paul Meister, Chris Lima, and Kristen Lima, for the donation of videography services, and John of Action Entertainment for DJing today! In just a few hours, the @palisadescntr will be full with dancers for our 5th Annual SU2C Flashmob! Dance will begin promptly at 3:00, and we hope to make a big donation to SU2C! If you would like to join in on the fun and dance, meet at 1:00 in the Adler room on the 4th floor by the ice skating rink! #su2cflashmob2018

Tomorrow is the big day! Here is important information for all participants: 1) Performance Day- THE FLASHMOB PERFORMANCE IS ON SUNDAY, MAY 20TH @ 3:00 AT THE PALISADES MALL. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST CHECK-IN AT 1:00. WE ARE MEETING ON THE 4TH FLOOR IN THE ADLER MEETING ROOM NEAR THE ICE SKATING RINK. Between 1:00 and about 2:45, we will be practicing and running through the dance several times. It will be the first time the entire mob is together, and for some, it will be the first time practicing the dance in person. NY DanceSport will be leading the rehearsal and will make sure everyone is comfortable and prepared. In addition, there will be a team of people drawing arrows on ALL participants hands for the big finale pose. If you know someone who hasn't signed up, but still wants to participate, they can still register that day in person (cash only). 2) Rehearsal- Our last rehearsal will take place on performance day at 1:00 in the Adler Room. 3) Shirts- If you ordered a t-shirt, they were distributed at the 5/12 rehearsal last week. If you could not make it to rehearsal that day, your shirt will be given to you when you check-in the day of the mob. We have a few extra shirts that can be sold that day as "cash and carry" so bring $12 cash with you. If you did not order a shirt, don't worry! You can wear any SU2C/DWTT shirt, make your own, wear the SU2C colors red, yellow, orange, black, or show your pride in any other way. 4.Signs/Placards/Pictures- At the beginning of the flashmob performance, before the dance, we will be doing a beautiful tribute on the dance floor. It is our hope that at that time, participants will hold up a picture of a loved one or write the names of who you are standing up for. 5) Keep the momentum going. Post pictures and videos using the #su2cflashmob2018!

SU2C FLASHMOB 2018 NY REGISTRATION DAY! It's time to sign up and JOIN THE MOB! Our 5th annual flashmob to benefit Stand Up To Cancer @su2c will be held on Sunday, May 20th @3:00. We have some really big news to mark our 5th anniversary. NY DanceSport is teaming up with FL DanceSport to bring a two city flashmob to life! That’s right, while we are dancing here in NY, a sister mob will be taking place in FL! Use the Eventbrite link in the bio and register to dance in the NY mob. No dance experience necessary! All levels welcome. After registering you will receive a tutorial video choreographed by the professionals @nydancesport to help you practice and learn the dance. In addition, there will be four rehearsals (optional, but try to attend as many as possible) on April 15th, April 22nd, April 29th, and May 12th @4:00. All rehearsals will be held at NY DanceSport- 61 S. Main Street, New City NY. T-shirts are available too, and the design will be ready soon. Each shirt is $12.00 each and can be purchased upon registering. The more people who register to participate in the Flashmob, the larger our donation to Stand Up To Cancer will be. Happy Mother's Day!!!

We are so proud of DWTT member, Diane Minunni for competing in her first half marathon last Sunday. It was the same day as the mob, and Diane didn't want to miss out completely. She had a racing tank custom made with the #su2cflashmob2017 logo on it. She completed the race under her goal time, and proudly crossed the finished line Standing Up To Cancer. During yesterday's flashmob, survivors proudly danced and participants held up beautiful pictures and signs to honor our family and friends who are in the fight and who we dance for in memory of. @su2c is making incredible strides in getting cutting edge treatments to patients now.
